The Prosecco DOC German Round saw MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider Leon Camier achieve two solid race results, as he crossed the line in fifth place on Saturday and then finish just 0.237s adrift of that position in Race 2.

In Tissot Superpole 2 on Saturday morning Camier qualified in ninth place and a strong performance in the afternoon saw him conclude the first race of the weekend in fifth, just over half a second behind fourth place finisher Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati).

In second place on the grid for Race 2 Camier pushed hard to stay with the frontrunners in the early laps and as the race settled into a rhythm he was in pursuit of Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) for fourth at one stage.

As drops of rain fell towards the end of the race it was important to focus on finishing without a crash and Camier became involved in a fight with Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) for fifth.

The MV Agusta man made a small error in the final stages and Lowes beat him to the line, but Camier was nonetheless positive about how the race had gone.

“The bike was perfect again and I had a really good rhythm,” Camier commented, “I tried to pass Sykes early on and we start battling for the fourth position, but his pace was very strong too. I made a little mistake in the last corner and Lowes beat me for fifth. I am a little bit frustrated with my mistake but at the same time I am happy with our performance today and I really look forward to the next race in Portimao.”
